30 May 2022 | Pre-Wedding Meet Up

Location: Central Park

We have an area booked at Central Park located adjacent to Place Elizbeth Hotel near the main square of Hvar town, from 19:15. Live music from 20:00 with some great company and an excuse to all meet up the day before our wedding!

There is a lot to do and visit in Hvar and the main city of Split and it would be a shame to miss what both have to offer.

Lola Bar - Set back in the cobbled streets, pretty seating area with a lively atmosphere. Best Drink: All Cocktails (£)

El Classico Cafe Bar - Bar with a lovely view, nice stop off pre-dinner as its located between the bell tower and harbour.  Best drink: Lavender G&T (£ £)

Central Park Bar.

Restaurants

Black Pepper - Our favourite restaurant in Hvar, Small restaurant with seating on the stairs over looking the harbour. Reasonably priced with outstanding food. Service is amazing and they do wine pairings with your food. Remember to book in advance as it is extremely popular!

Gariful - Exclusive restaurant right on the harbour front, nice for a special night out. Check out the underfloor aquarium inside the restaurant. Prices are a little more on the higher side, but worth it.

Restaurant Park - Great views and in a pretty setting for dinner. Sits above Central Park Bar so you are in close proximity to enjoy the live music after dinner.

Plava Alga - The best views for dinner, especially at sunset, as it is the highest restaurant in the harbour and west facing. Very reasonably prices. We received a free dessert each visit but unsure if they will do this in 2021.

Jerolim - Quaint little friendly restaurant. Good for those who don't want to walk all the way into the harbour if you're staying near the venue. Family run and often received a lot of free alcohol!

Restaurant Villa Dinka - Dinky! 50 meters from Hotel Pharos and Amfora, lovely food and friendly staff. Over looking Bonj Beach and Amfora pool area. We had one of our best nights here. It is also reasonably priced too!

Aroma Gelato Experience - We couldn't leave out ice cream! This is one of the best in Hvar town which was recommended by the locals. You cant miss it as there is always a queue out of the door and located by Aloha Bar.

Alternative Eats - We want to stress that there are also plenty of place around the island to grab a quick bite. We are just across the water from Italy so they love a pizza! The slices are huge and we did this many times after a night out! There are also places to go to grab a burger, toastie and some fries maybe after a long day at the beach.

Beaches

Bonj/Amfora Beach - What's not to love?! Part of this is our venue, which is the beach club. For those of you staying near our venue, especially the Amfora, there is direct access from the hotel to the beach. Maestral Beach Club and Splash bar which is popular is also located on the beach. You can hire Kayaks and Paddleboards for a few hours which was 100 Kuna per hour. Also great for a mid-night swim after a night out, before heading back to the hotel in wet clothes.....

Parmizana Beach - Located in a beautiful cove of the Pakleni Islands, this is a beach you can only access by boat and a apparently a good place to do some celebrity spotting; many frequent here including the likes of Rod Stewart, so if its good enough for him its good enough for us! Any of our guests coming on the boat trip will be able to visit here as it is one of our stop offs. It's good place to enjoy a sandy beach and its also surrounded by bars and restaurants; a great stop off.

Pokonji Dol Beach - We stumbled upon this beautiful beach after a walk one day, and it became a favourite. Its a bit quieter, very secluded, but there are beds to rent for 50 Kuna per bed and there is a brilliant beach bar serving food and cocktails until 7pm. There is a small mooring platform as we took our hire boat there the second time we visited. If you do walk, you will need sturdy shoes... Nicole learnt the hard way!!

Top Tips

Cash - The currency in Croatia is Kuna. Euros are not accepted on the island. All bars tend to ask for a cash payment only, so please take enough Kuna with you so you do not have to withdraw from an ATM which can incur extra charges.  In restaurants, card payments are usually accepted.

Hire a Boat - It is the best way to see the coastline of Hvar and to explore the smaller coves of the Pakleni islands. Boats are to a penny in Croatia; its how they get around, therefore its a very cheap way to explore as there aren't many roads. Majority of moorings are free wherever you end up. There are many boat rental places in town and outside the hotels but we can give you recommendations. We hired a boat three times and it was the highlight of our trip; we really cannot recommend it enough! There is a cool box provided so, pack a picnic, pack some beers and enjoy!

Visit a beach club -  For anyone that may of heard of Hula Hula, it's the number one beach club on Hvar which attracts many people to the island each year. We personally haven't visited, but we just wanted to make a recommendation for you all. A little further down the coastline from Hula Hula, there is another beach club called, Falko Beach Club. This is defiantly worth a visit, its the same concept but prices are significantly cheaper!

Local Supermarkets - For anyone who is staying in an AirBnB or anyone with a fridge in their room and wants to keep cost down there a few supermarkets you can visit. The main supermarket is Tommy's with the closest store located around 1km from Hvar Town. But, there is a more local store called Studenac with one located in the centre of Hvar and another 5 minute walk from Hotel Amfora. Stocking up on beer is always a good idea; in Hvar they have a very good recycling scheme.  You purchase a plastic crate to help carry the bottles of beers. Return a full crate of empty bottles and receive your money back.

Sea Shoes !! - We cannot stress this enough, if you are going to the beach, you need them! They are cheaper if you buy them in the UK but are available all around the island.
